Dr. Joseph Horrigan, a board certified chiropractic sports medicine practitioner and strength and conditioning specialist, is widely regarded as one of the preeminent professionals in his field and also serves as the Director of the Soft Tissue Center at DISC.

With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Horrigan has held national leadership roles within the chiropractic community, advances the profession with original peer-reviewed research and presentations, has written numerous consumer articles, along with two successful books, in addition maintaining an active role in post-graduate instruction and a private practice.

Specializing in the diagnosis and management of sports and soft tissue injuries, Dr. Horrigan, takes a comprehensive approach in his evaluation and treatment plans in order to prevent further injury and return patients and athletes quickly to play. For elite and professional athletes seeking to improve performance, Dr. Horrigan offers innovative and wide-ranging techniques, based on scientific research, to identify weaknesses and develop training regimes to maximize potential.

An expert on strength and conditioning as well as rehabilitation, Dr. Horrigan has extensive experience working with some of the top amateur and professional athletes in the nation. He has served as the head speed-strength and conditioning coach for the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings for three years and with the Long Beach Ice Dogs hockey team for seven years. Working with USA Weightlifting, he served as a club coach since 1998 and as a member of the Sports Medicine Committee since 1997.

He is the co-author of two books, The Seven-Minute Rotator Cuff Solution and Strength, and Conditioning and Injury Prevention for Hockey. He also is an assistant professor at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic’s Diagnosis Department. Currently Dr. Horrigan writes the Sports Medicine Column for IRONMAN Magazine and has done so for over 18 years. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians.

Dr. Horrigan also served as medical consultant for the films: “The Matrix,” “Charlie’s Angels II Full Throttle,” “Spiderman II,” and served as Athletic Performance Consultant on “Seabiscuit,” “Skeleton Key,” “Things We Lost in the Fire,” “Che,” and “The Wolfman.”
