DeWayne Unger was a member of the 2014 Practice Analysis Task Force Committee for the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a subject matter expert. He’s written numerous articles for national magazines such as The Training Edge, Experience Life, and Native Life. Over the last 16 years as a personal trainer Unger has worked with everyone from professional athletes to the elderly. He’s also a regular speaker at a Silver Sneakers group.
In the last 20+ years Unger has coached Little League, Youth Football and Youth soccer. Currently he’s just another dad in the stands who enjoys watching his 13 year old son play baseball. His son plays select baseball and is a member of a “National Event” team that travels the country participating in USA Baseball and Perfect Game tournaments. The team is made up with the best players in Washington,Oregon, and Idaho.His son is considered one of the Top Tier players in his region. Unger is also the father of 28-year-old twins.
Whenever Unger is not training his son he’s a lead instructor for a CPT school that is partnered with NASM. He has also been on staff at Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy and Massage in Olympia,Wa. for a year. Unger enjoys educating future personal trainers and teaches CPT, CES, PES, and the BCS at the school. He still works part time as a personal trainer at Thorbeckes Fitlife in Centralia,Wa. Unger also served in the U.S. Army and attended Pacific Lutheran University.
In Unger’s off time he enjoys family time, traveling, and bbq’s.
